A year ago to the day, GLC lost his dear brother, Ronald Harris a man who he considered a warrior and a father figure, as he states in his own words “The man who made sure I always had a father since passed when he was 17 & I was just 8 months.”

Ronald Harris, affectionately known as BabaKwesi” was celebrated as a Chicago State University leader, who served as a “longtime director of the African American Male Resource Center at Chicago State University” and according to the ILAACP, was also a community leader, mentor and an advocate for public health — once beating cancer, but ultimately succumbing to the disease on June 17, 2016 at the young age of 56.

In order to honor his brother’s honorable legacy, the G.O.O.D. Music artist recorded “Sankofa With Kwesi,” recounting memorable stories of his brother, BabaKwesi,” who instilled a sense of pride and Knowledge of Self in the young rapper’s life, as a young’n wylding on the streets of Southside Chicago.

The song, produced by Rich Gains, also alludes to the word “sankofa,” which roughly translates to “Go back and get it,” and according to this site, is derived from the Ghanan proverbIt is not taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind.” Listen courtesy of soundcloud below.
